I felt it was necessary to create these programs when I could not find structured programs for my children. I have an Associate Degree in Graphic Design - Business Art and is working on her Bachelor degree in Business Adminstration. Arts and crafts has been with me for as long as I can remember, I believe it made a difference and it helped me. My goal is to one day run a community center where we have different projects the youth can learn and use as their own outlet instead of violence.

Nubian Rose Enterprises was created in 1999 and started with a babysitters club and then created a jump rope team. The programs were created to keep our young girls busy with new programs, while teaching them responsibilities. The jump rope team was created for excerise and for girls / boys to participate as a group. In 2002, we became incorporated and in 2003 Visual Dreamers of Hampton Roads was created because we want Art to be our youths outlet instead of violence. In 2005, we became a 501 c 3 non profit organzation. At that time our jump rope team (Tidewater Jumpers) participated in numerous tournaments, workshops through AAU and also participated in the AAU Junior Olympics. The youth that participated were very happy and enjoyed meeting new friends from different teams.

In 2009 we added a Teen Evening Summer Program, a pilot program for our young teens to learn and have fun, during the evenings. The program was a success and the teens and their parents that participated were happy and said they would return with friends the next year.

Our newest program that will be introduced on June 19, 2010, will be focusing on helping our First Offender females and their families, ages 8-14 years.Our goal for this program as well as our others to keep our teens away from violent activities in our neighborhoods.

Our organization is here for our community, but in order for us to continue to be here we need the support from our community. Teens ages (15-17 years old) interested in volunteering please contact us asap. We also have openings on our Advisory Council Board for local partners and parents.
